Our first gloriously un-serious reading morning happened under the trees. Books were opened, phones were ignored, and the pages finally started turning again.

I attended the reading session this morning and it was absolutely amazing. Anna put in great effort to make readers comfortable. We were lucky as the sun was hiding behind clouds and there was even live music in the background.
I never flipped so many pages in the past many months, as I couldn't focus whilst reading as a consequence of overconsumption of digital devices. A surreal experience which will be very memorable… Definitely recommend!

Meet Anna.
Anna is the person behind Book Rave SG. She creates an easygoing place to put the phone away, open whatever you actually want to read, and meet other curious people without the usual book-club homework.
One idea, one picnic blanket, and a whole new way to spend Saturday.

Singapore Botanic Gardens. Find the white, octagonal Bandstand, then look for our BOOK RAVE chalkboard and picnic blankets on the surrounding lawn.

Getting here
- By MRT: head to Napier station on the Thomson-East Coast Line, then walk to Tanglin Gate.
- Inside the Gardens: follow signs towards the Bandstand. We meet on the lawn, not inside the pavilion.
- By taxi or car: use Tanglin Entrance as your drop-off, or park at Botany Centre, then continue on foot.
Google Maps will use your location, or you can enter a starting point. Once you spot the chalkboard, you’re one blanket away from a good morning.

What should I bring?
Your current read, water and a picnic blanket or mat. Bring whatever helps you settle into a good hour of reading. No matching book covers required.
Can I bring a folding chair?
Chair arrangements are not confirmed yet, so please bring a blanket or mat for now. If chairs are permitted, we’ll have a few spares, but there may not be enough for everyone.
Do I need to finish a particular book?
No homework, no assigned book, no pop quiz. Bring whatever you’re into lately: a novel, poetry, a comic, a magazine or that book you keep meaning to get back to.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. Come solo, settle in and read alongside other curious people. You’re welcome to chat afterwards, but there’s no pressure to perform a clever book review.
What happens during a Book Rave?
We settle in, tuck our phones away and read for an hour. Afterwards, swap books or ideas if you fancy it, then join a garden wander in search of coffee. Stay for the chat or keep your morning quiet.
Where do I find you?
